The New Orleans Saints won’t be participating in the playoffs and that means Week 18 was the final game for the black and gold until the preseason kicks off in August. The team will have 11 players set to be unrestricted free agents this spring and three, in particular, don’t seem too likely to return to the Big Easy in 2022.

Let’s take a look at those three Saints who probably played their final game with the team this past Sunday.

3. Terron Armstead

Technically, left tackle Terron Armstead might have played in his final game as a Saint in the Week 14 win over the Jets. That was the last time fans saw the former third-round pick in action, as he’s been out with a knee injury since that game.

Armstead is slated to hit free agency and with all of the injuries he’s battled throughout his career and the fact that he’ll be 31 when the 2022 season begins, I’m not sure that the Arkansas-Pine Bluff product is worthy of a contract extension.

If he’s willing to take a hometown discount, that’d be one thing, but Armstead certainly isn’t worth the Saints shelling out $95 million to, which is what Spotrac has his market value set at.

Armstead is a great left tackle when he’s healthy but that’s the problem — He hasn’t been fully healthy at any point during his lengthy career. It’d be unfortunate to see him go, but letting Armstead walk is the right decision considering the circumstances.
