If acquiring a 38-year-old quarterback would break the bank for New Orleans, just imagine the cost of acquiring a 26-year-old quarterback who led the league in passing in the 2020 season.

Now, it’s worth noting that Deshaun Watson is currently undergoing a legal investigation of sexual assault and hasn’t played a single snap in the 2021 season, but still — If Watson is cleared to play, he won’t be cheap for any NFL team to acquire from the Texans.

This is assuming, of course, that Houston would be willing to part ways with him but there were rumblings that Miami was interested in trading for him and moving on from Tua Tagovailoa ahead of the trade deadline. It didn’t go through, however.

Watson, a former first-round pick by the Texans in 2017, took the league by storm early on and looked like a promising young star for years to come. The sexual assault charges paired with his discontent in Houston have forced him to sit out this year but if he’s cleared to play, New Orleans makes sense as a destination for him.

Would the organization be okay having him in town despite his legal issues?
