I was surprised to see so many fans list Ian Book as who they thought would be the starting quarterback in Week 1 of the 2022 regular season. Maybe it’d have made more sense had we not seen the rookie struggle tremendously in his debut last week on Monday Night Football.

Book was a fourth-round pick by the Saints in the 2021 NFL draft and fans weren’t sure what to expect from him. No one really thought we’d see him as a rookie and that was certainly the plan but COVID-19 issues led to him making a start that he was not ready for.

Book isn’t as bad as that start indicated and there was a lot stacked against him in that game but he still has work to do if he wants to be the starting quarterback of the New Orleans Saints.

I’d be surprised if Book is the Week 1 starter, especially if Taysom Hill is on the roster, but crazier things have happened. Fans seem to think there’s a chance this could indeed happen.
