1. Cesar Ruiz

When I asked this question on the Who Dat Dish Twitter account, the only answer I received was Cesar Ruiz, who hasn’t improved at all this year. He had a rough rookie campaign and fans were hoping to see improvements in year two but Ruiz has continued to struggle.

He currently has a 58.0 PFF grade and is ranked 54th out of 80 possible guards. He’s been better in pass-blocking (60.9) than he has in run-blocking (54.7) but overall, it always feels like Ruiz is getting taken advantage of by defenders. He’s allowed the most sacks on the season with five and has allowed 28 pressures, two fewer than Throckmorton, who we already discussed.

This kind of “production” is coming from a guy the Saints spent a first-round pick on and that’s unacceptable. New Orleans can’t really afford to demote the guy right now but if they did have a better option or even just another option, fans might be willing to take that chance. Ruiz has been that bad.

We’re only in year two of the Ruiz experiment and New Orleans really should plan to find a better right guard option for the 2022 season. Their quarterback’s health depends on it.
