The New Orleans Saints are several spots outside of the playoff picture and while the division is out of reach, they could theoretically still get in by way of the wild card. The other day we looked at teams who stood in NOLA’s way of making the postseason but now we’ll look at three players who need to up their game if the Saints want to be playing past Week 18.

Let’s start with a defensive player who hasn’t looked as dominant in 2021.

3. Cameron Jordan

It’s been a strange season for fan-favorite Cameron Jordan. First and foremost, he was forced to miss his first game EVER as a pro football player due to testing positive for COVID-19. He was asymptomatic but per league rules, had to miss Sunday’s game against the Jets.

While Jordan’s absence in that game didn’t hurt the defense too much, he hasn’t been his usual self this season. It took him until Week 7 to get his first sack of the season and he only has four on the entire year.

For the Saints to get to the playoffs, Jordan has to be the guy we know he can be. He used to be New Orleans’ most feared pass-rusher but not this year. There’s still time for him to make an impact and help NOLA punch their ticket to the postseason.
