It appears Broncos fans are done with the Teddy Bridgewater experiment and the former Louisville product will be a free agent this offseason. New Orleans and Bridgewater have ties to one another and that could lead to the former Saints signal-caller reuniting with his old team, even in a backup or not as prominent role.

Bridgewater was traded to New Orleans in the 2018 offseason and sat behind Drew Brees during a good year for the Saints. During the offseason, the former first-round pick had an opportunity to sign with the Dolphins as their starting quarterback but he chose to stay in the Big Easy and back up Brees for another year.

The fact that Bridgewater passed on the opportunity to start elsewhere so that he could remain in New Orleans meant a lot to the city and the fans. He ended up making five starts when Brees went down and went 5-0 during that time. It was awesome to see this kid succeed.

Following that season, fans were fine with seeing him sign elsewhere because he had earned it. He signed a deal with the Panthers but only played there for one season before getting shipped off to Denver, where he’s been pretty hit and miss.

Is Bridgewater the future starting quarterback of the New Orleans Saints? No, but no one would be upset with bringing him back and letting him light a fire under whoever is the expected starter next year.
