Saints Mock Draft: NOLA finds their WR and QB of the future
Round 2: Pick 42 – Kenny Pickett, QB (Pittsburgh)
It’d be amazing if the draft actually panned out this way where the Saints get an electrifying receiver in the first round and a potential franchise quarterback in the second round. Kenny Pickett probably doesn’t fall to the second round, let alone this deep into the second round, but since he was available at this point in the mock, I didn’t hesitate to scoop him up.
Pickett threw for 4,319 yards, 42 touchdowns, and seven interceptions through 13 games en route to an ACC title for the Panthers. Pickett is currently a favorite to win the Heisman Trophy (though he probably doesn’t stand a chance with Bryce Young wowing everyone) and would be a tremendous addition to the NOLA offense.
Pickett also does damage with his legs, racking up 233 yards and five touchdowns with his legs. The season prior he had eight rushing touchdowns. Pickett isn’t going to be on the board in the second round but if he is, that’s a massive win for New Orleans. Maybe they still bring Jameis Winston on for another season and if they do, Pickett can sit and learn on the sidelines while Winston tries to make another impression.
