Round 5: Pick 161 – Josh Jobe, CB (Alabama)

Despite signing an extension ahead of the 2021 season, Marshon Lattimore hasn’t been all that impressive. Bradley Roby is slowly coming into his own with his new team and rookie Paulson Adebo has played well in his first season as a pro cornerback.

NOLA might have talent at the position but injuries happen — as we’ve seen at an alarmingly high rate this year — and that’s why it never hurts to add depth at key positions. Josh Jobe out of Alabama surprisingly fell to the fifth round of this mock draft and the Saints didn’t hesitate to scoop him up when they were on the clock with the No. 161 pick.

Jobe, a four-year starter with the Crimson Tide, has 22 total tackles, three defended passes, and one interception in his nine games in Tuscaloosa this year. He could have entered the draft last year but likely thought that another year could help boost him into an earlier round.

The good news for Jobe is that he has time to up his draft stock. He’ll have at least one more game, as even if Alabama doesn’t make the College Football Playoff, they’ll appear in a bowl game. A solid performance by Jobe there could push him to a Day 2 selection.
