3. Quarterback

The Saints couldn’t have predicted that Jameis Winston would get injured eight weeks into the season so that’s why quarterback is lower on the list. Winston was doing okay before he was injured and lost for the season and it’s very possible New Orleans opts to just re-sign Winston depending on how his recovery goes in the offseason.

If Winston isn’t brought back, the Saints might not have a ton of other options. They already extended Taysom Hill so he’ll obviously be in the mix to be the starting quarterback next year and beyond. We don’t know enough about Ian Book yet and Trevor Siemian is a backup, at best, as we’re seeing.

Unfortunately for New Orleans, there aren’t many good quarterbacks entering the 2022 NFL Draft. They could take a flier on someone like Carson Strong but he wouldn’t be ready to step into the offense from Day 1.

Quarterback is the most important position in the game and the Saints had one of the best in the league for 15 years. Now they find themselves in the same position most teams who don’t have a franchise quarterback are in year after year.
