4. Tight End

Adam Trautman finally showed that he can be a competent tight end for this team on Sunday, grabbing five catches for 58 yards and a touchdown in the pathetic loss.

Be that as it may, it took Trautman 11 weeks to show much of anything and the Saints shouldn’t ignore the tight end position again this offseason. They added Nick Vannett last offseason and he just made his first appearance this past week but definitely isn’t the answer moving forward.

Unfortunately, this year’s tight end draft class isn’t great, so this might be another year where New Orleans adds another tight end through free agency. There will be some decent options available but the Saints won’t be able to afford the bigger names like Zach Ertz or C.J. Uzomah. They could, however, afford someone like Eric Ebron or Gerald Everett.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Saints opt to continue rolling with Trautman as their TE1 next year. He’s only in year two and hailed from a smaller school, so the organization might give him another year to show what he can do as a starter.

Tight end might not be on the top of the Saints’ list to address this offseason and it can move down the list if Trautman has a decent final six games of the 2021 regular season.
