New Orleans Saints: Weekly MVPs from Week 10 loss to Titans
New Orleans Saints MVPs
Special Teams MVP – Blake Gillikin
Brian Johnson missed two point-after-attempts. Deonte Harris had an okay day in the return game but fumbled on a kick-return that was immediately converted to a score by the Titans.
There wasn’t too much to highlight with the special teams’ players except that the reigning NFC Special Teams Player of the Month, Blake Gillikin continued his quiet run as one of the league’s most effective punters.
Filling the void left by the 12-year Saint Thomas Morstead, Gillikin is a weapon that New Orleans needs to perform well. The margin of error for the NOLA defense is razor-thin, so the more effective that Blake Gillikin can be, obviously, the better shot the Saints defense has at holding teams scoreless.
On Sunday’s Week 10 matchup against the Tennessee Titans, Gillikin didn’t have the eye-opening performances he had during his Special Teams Player of the Month run. Yet, he was still effective. He finished the game with 205 yards in five punts. He put one inside the 20-yard line, and was a gunner’s toe away from dotting one on the Titan’s half-yard line.
Blake Gillikin is your Special Teams MVP for Week 10.
What do you think, Saints fans? Who would you crown MVP in all three of these categories for Week 10?
