5 free agents that could bolster New Orleans Saints defense in 2022
1. Justin Houston
The Saints need help in the pass-rushing department and Justin Houston has always made a name for himself there. Houston, who is currently a member of the Ravens, has three sacks on the season and has 100 sacks throughout his career.
A former third-round pick in 2011 by the Chiefs, Houston has established himself as one of the most ferocious pass-rushing threats in the league. He’s not the same guy who had 22 sacks in the 2014 season with the Chiefs but he’s still very good at getting after the quarterback.
With Houston turning 33 in January, he’ll come at a bargain of a price (Baltimore paid him just a little over $2 million for this season) and that’s something New Orleans has to be looking into. Their pass-rush needs a boost moving forward and Houston could give them just that and at a fraction of the cost.
He’s not going to be as lethal as someone like Chandler Jones but the Saints know they’re not going to be able to afford him so they probably won’t even bother bringing him in for a visit (assuming the Cardinals even let him sniff free agency). Houston is affordable and could pack a punch in this defense, so he’s someone the Saints should zero in on this offseason.
These defensive free agents could help the Saints tremendously in 2022.
