The New Orleans Saints may have to face the Tennessee Titans in Week 10 without their No. 1 running back, Alvin Kamara.

Kamara may have gotten a little too banged up in Week 9’s matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, as sources say the running back did not practice with the team on Wednesday.

In the Saints’ loss to the Falcons, Kamara went to the medical tent for a brief evaluation, but he appeared to be fine and still played 68 percent of offensive snaps.

The Saints tried out three running backs earlier this week, likely due to Kamara’s minor injury, and they ended up signing Josh Adams to the practice squad. Adams spent the last three seasons with the New York Jets and was waived by the Jets after playing 12 games. In that span, Adams recorded 169 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

If Kamara doesn’t recover in time for Sunday’s game, New Orleans will use a combination of Mark Ingram and Dwayne Washington to lead the backfield.

The fan-favorite Ingram has 15 carries for 70 yards in two games, and he could be due for a much heavier workload in Week 10.

A bit of good news is that Kamara’s injury doesn’t sound serious and shouldn’t be a nagging concern.

The four-time Pro Bowl running back has been the Saints’ most consistent and productive offensive weapon in 2021, accumulating 840 scrimmage yards with seven touchdowns on 178 touches.

No other player in New Orleans has more than 346 scrimmage yards or 32 touches.

Trevor Siemian and the Saints will be up against a Titans defense that held the Los Angeles Rams to a season-low 16 points and 347 total yards in Week 9, so they’ll need all the offensive firepower they can get. Especially if they still want to make that playoff run.

Still, Sean Payton may want to play it safe and reduce the risk of Kamara injuring his knee more in Week 10. Keep an eye on Twitter for Kamara’s changing status.
