The New Orleans Saints are halfway through their 2021 season but it’s never too early to start looking ahead to the future. Let’s take a look at five free agents who could greatly help the Saints’ offense in 2022.

While putting this list together, I tried to keep the Saints’ financial woes in mind. The team doesn’t have a lot of spare change to spend this offseason but these players could fall into their price range.

Without further ado, let’s check out five free agents who could bolster the Saints’ offense in 2022.

5. Eric Ebron

The tight end position has been a mess for the black and gold this season. Adam Trautman hasn’t taken the leap that the organization was depending on and while Juwan Johnson showed promise during the preseason and in Week 1, he was a healthy scratch this past week and continues to sit behind Trautman on the depth chart.

With Trautman not looking the part of a starting tight end, the Saints need to dip back in the tight end pool this offseason. An affordable option for them would be Eric Ebron, who’s currently playing for the Steelers.

Ebron went 10th overall to the Lions in the 2014 NFL Draft and Detroit was not a good spot for the North Carolina product. This was proven when in his first year with the Colts in 2018, Ebron exploded onto the scene for 750 yards and a whopping 13 touchdowns.

While Ebron hasn’t been that same player ever since, he’d give the Saints an affordable, but effective option at tight end. He’s someone I’d love to see sign with New Orleans in the offseason.
