The Saints spent a third-round pick on Wisconsin linebacker Zack Baun in the 2020 NFL Draft and he certainly has not lived up to his third-round draft status. During his rookie season, Baun appeared in 15 games with three starts under his belt and finished the season with just 12 tackles (one for loss).

This season, there was optimism for Baun, especially with him switching to a more comfortable position. Unfortunately, Baun’s been outplayed by rookie Pete Werner and has seen his playing time decrease significantly. He hasn’t taken a single defensive snap in the past three games.

While Baun is helping out on special teams (he’s now receiving anywhere between 72%-88% of snaps on special teams), that’s not what he was drafted for. He was supposed to come in and be a wrecking ball on the defensive side of the ball and instead, he’s strictly playing special teams.

While Baun is only in his second season, it’s gotten to the point where Saints fans have written him off and aren’t expecting anything more from him. Hey, at least Werner is playing well, right?
