Saints First-Round Targets

Garrett Wilson, WR (Ohio State)

Oddly enough, another first-round target for New Orleans could be yet another wide receiver out of Ohio State. This time, in the form of Garrett Wilson.

The Saints have also been connected to Wilson in mock drafts and it’s not hard to see why. The 6’0″ Buckeye wideout has totaled 36 grabs for 605 yards and six touchdowns through seven games. He’s not the red zone target that Olave is but Pro Football Network notes that Wilson has Olave beat in yardage and yards per catch.

There’s no excuse for the Saints not to land a wide receiver in the first round of the draft (unless they make some sort of blockbuster trade for a receiver before then) and getting Wilson would be a dream for this group.

Maybe Jameis Winston isn’t the quarterback of the Saints in 2022 but whoever is would love to see Wilson out there when he drops back to pass. He’d give the Saints a true WR2 to pair with Thomas and that’s exactly what this offense needs to be great.
