While Tim Patrick has risen to fame in Denver, James Washington has been underutilized in Pittsburgh. A former second-round pick out of Oklahoma State, Washington has yet to be the guy Steelers fans were hoping for.

Part of this is that the Steelers have had plenty of help at the position with Chase Claypool, Diontae Johnson, and JuJu Smith-Schuster to compete with for targets. Another part is that Ben Roethlisberger has been waning in production.

Washington’s best season to this point was in 2019 when he caught 44 receptions for 735 yards and three touchdowns (Big Ben was injured for most of that season, for what it’s worth). The former Oklahoma State Cowboy had five touchdowns last year but only has 108 through five games this season.

The Steelers aren’t even starting Washington so why not ship him off and get something in return for him? If they put him on the trade block, New Orleans needs to be on the phone with Pittsburgh because this is a wide receiver who could be dangerous in the Big Easy.
