Loser: Wide Receivers

Fans knew how bad these receivers were but Sean Payton insisted this group could get it done. I wonder if he wants a mulligan on that one because it’s become crystal clear through six games that these receivers aren’t deserving of being on an NFL roster, let alone STARTING.

I’ll leave Marquez Callaway alone because at least he did something (three catches for 32 yards) but the other wide receivers had a grand total of — wait for it — ONE CATCH FOR 11 YARDS.

That’s it! That’s all the Saints wide receivers not named Marquez Callaway could muster through four quarters of action. Pathetic.

Kevin White missed two catches that would have been critical first downs. Kenny Stills couldn’t haul in any of the deep balls Jameis Winston sent his way. Tre’Quan Smith, we’ll get to in a minute.

Michael Thomas can’t return soon enough.

Loser: Tre’Quan Smith

Speaking of wide receivers, Tre’Quan Smith had a terrible 2021 debut. He was targeted three times on the night and caught just one pass for 11 yards (so he was the only non-Callaway receiver to catch a pass) while getting chewed out on the sidelines by Winston for screwing up a key play.

This game might have been Smith’s first of the 2021 season but it really does feel like he won’t be returning for 2022 and beyond.
