4 injured Saints who will help team go on a run after the BYE
By Kristen Wong
1. Michael Thomas
Everyone who still has Michael Thomas in their fantasy lineups, raise your hand. You’re about to be heavily rewarded or heavily let down.
After all the drama surrounding Thomas’ return, the star wideout could take the field in Week 7. As with any player recovering from a season-ending injury, Thomas will likely take more than one game to get back up to speed.
But oh, the wonders he’d do for team morale.
Currently, the Saints rank 31st in the league in net passing yards (847) and 29th in pass completion percentage (60.8). These numbers shouldn’t be a huge surprise since this is the first year of the post-Brees reconstruction era, but all of that is to say the Saints’ passing game could be drastically improved.
As the 2019 NFL Offensive Player of the Year, Michael Thomas is exactly the type of receiver Jameis Winston is looking for.
Thomas has the ability to catch contested passes, the sure hands to get early downs, and the potential to pose as a big-play threat alongside Callaway and Harris.
Aside from an injury-plagued 2020 season, Thomas has recorded 1,000-plus receiving yard seasons every year of his NFL career. Amid the rumors that Thomas might be traded, he also might be the savior for a struggling New Orleans passing offense.
No one is more excited to see Michael Thomas back in action than we are.
