The Saints’ 2020 draft class isn’t looking too hot, is it?

We’ve already discussed how Ruiz and Trautman are disappointments but now let’s look at yet another player taken in last year’s draft. Zack Baun has really struggled and it’s been disheartening because the team spent a third-round pick on the Wisconsin linebacker.

Fast forward to present day, however, and he’s been outplayed and essentially replaced by second-round rookie Pete Werner. Baun didn’t play a single defensive snap this past week but appeared in 83% of special teams snaps, so it’s possible he’ll be used predominantly as a special teamer moving forward.

Baun already has more tackles through five games than he did last year, but that could be helped with his increased special teams play. The hope was that Baun could help shore up the linebacker position but Werner has been doing that instead.

Baun is looking like a terrible draft pick through not even two seasons. He’s the most disappointing player on the Saints’ roster so far.
