NOLA Saints: 4 wide receivers to trade for before the deadline
4. NOLA Saints should trade for Andy Isabella
Who Dat Dish’s Kristen Wong discussed how a trade for Andy Isabella would be in both sides’ best interests.
This is because the Saints, as mentioned several times now in this post, don’t have many top-notch receivers, and the Cardinals haven’t used Isabella as anything more than a return specialist this season.
Isabella hasn’t blossomed into the kind of player Arizona was hoping for but it’s not too late for him to do so though it won’t be happening in the desert at this point.
The former UMASS receiver was a freak of nature in college, totaling nearly 1,700 yards receiving and 13 touchdowns during his senior season in 2018. He had double-digit touchdowns in three of his four collegiate seasons and it’s no wonder he was a Day 2 selection that year despite hailing from a small school.
To this point, though, the Cardinals just haven’t given him the opportunity he deserves. He’s split time with DeAndre Hopkins, Christian Kirk, and now Rondale Moore, and it’s getting too crowded for the speedy receiver.
In New Orleans, Isabella could be a game-changing wide receiver who’s appreciated and utilized correctly on Day 1. Imagining the different schemes Sean Payton could come up with for Isabella is a lot of fun and this would be a really great trade for NOLA. He’s also under contract for one more year so the Saints would have him in 2022 as well.
