NOLA Saints nab a quarterback in CBS Sports mock draft
It’s no secret that the New Orleans Saints are going to be in a similar situation that they were in this past season at the quarterback position. While Jameis Winston hasn’t been bad through three games (okay — Week 2 was pretty bad), the Saints are either going to keep him around or they’ll look for their future franchise quarterback.
According to Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports, the Saints will turn to the draft to find their next quarterback, as he had them taking a signal-caller in his latest mock draft.
Wilson had the Saints picking at No. 19 overall and with that pick, the black and gold selected Carson Strong out of Nevada.
"This is all going to come down to the medicals on Strong’s knee. He’s the most consistent QB in this draft class and if healthy, he could eventually be the first passer off the board. Instead, he lasts till 19th, where he lands in a great situation in New Orleans."
NOLA Saints take Carson Strong in recent mock draft
While this would be an excellent get midway through the first round, I’m not buying that Strong would last until the 19th pick. Quarterbacks typically go in the top 10 with teams moving up to draft one if need be.
That being said, if this did happen, New Orleans would be getting a good player and a potential franchise quarterback. Strong had his best season in 2020 with the Wolfpack, throwing for 2,858 yards, 27 touchdowns, and four interceptions through nine games. He’s not a runner, having yet to record a positive number of rushing yards in a season but Sean Payton is used to not having a mobile quarterback.
Saints fans would be thrilled to land Strong in the 2022 NFL Draft and while it’s a possibility, they’ll likely have to move into the top 10 if they want to land the Nevada signal-caller.
Would you be okay with Strong coming to the Big Easy?
