Saints bold predictions vs. Panthers

4. Jameis Winston has another clean game

Last week when I predicted that Jameis Winston would outperform Aaron Rodgers in his first-ever start for the Saints, even I knew it was an incredibly bold prediction. Somehow, someway, it ended up happening, as Winston tossed for five touchdowns and zero interceptions in his black and gold debut (well, his starting debut, that is) while Rodgers threw for zero touchdowns and two picks.

At this point, Winston having another good performance wouldn’t be all that bold, but I predict that he’ll have another clean game, which means no interceptions, no turnovers, and no sacks. Getting sacked might not be entirely in his control but the Saints have the offensive line that can keep Winston upright and clean for the second straight game.

While the Panthers do have some ball hawks in their secondary, Winston is going to emerge from Week 2 with close to double-digit touchdowns and still no interceptions on his stat sheet. That’d be quite the start from a guy who threw 30 interceptions in the last season he started.
