Panthers vs. Jets – Sept. 12 (12:00 CST)

Give the NFL props for this Week 1 matchup, as they knew all too well what they were doing with pitting the Jets and Panthers against each other. It’ll be the Sam Darnold revenge game, as he hopes that his first win as a Panther will be against his former team that gave up on him.

I’m intrigued by this game because while it’ll pit two bad teams against each other, it has a juicy storyline surrounding it. I’m also curious to see what Matt Rhule can accomplish in his second year at the helm and if Christian McCaffrey will return to the dual-threat player he was prior to 2020 (though in the three games he played in, he still looked like that player).

The Panthers are 5.5-point favorites according to WynnBet and that’s fair. They have home-field advantage while the Jets have a rookie quarterback, rookie head coach, and more question marks than the Panthers have.

This could be a sneaky fascinating game and it’s one I hope pops up on NFL Red Zone frequently in the first slate of games.
