The New Orleans Saints roster is taking shape, as roster cuts took place on Tuesday. Wednesday was the beginning of waiver claims and if players made it through the initial round of waivers, they were then eligible to be added to a team’s practice squad.

Saints are well-armed at fullback

One surprising move that took place on Tuesday was that the Saints cut fullback Alex Armah. The Saints need a fullback in the type of offense they run so parting ways with him was a bit of a shocking move.

New Orleans ended up claiming fullback Adam Prentice on waivers and also signed Armah and Sutton Smith to the practice squad, giving them three total fullbacks between the roster and practice squad.

Fullbacks are important in the Saints offense but to carry three of them seems a bit odd. Maybe the competition will be ongoing and Armah will have another shot to make the team but as of now, Prentice is the only fullback on the Saints 53-man roster.
