New Orleans Saints: Wide receivers to target after roster cuts
The New Orleans Saints, as well as the other 31 teams in the league, took part in trimming their rosters down to 53 players, per league rules. The Saints had to make some surprising cuts in getting their roster down to 53 but now with players cut and waiting for new homes, it’s time for New Orleans to turn their attention there and see if there’s anyone who is a fit for them.
While fans feel better about the state of the wide receiver position, some talented names found themselves on the outside looking in and the Saints would be foolish not to consider upgrading at the position.
The good news is that the need for a top-tier receiver isn’t as prominent now, as Marquez Callaway impressed mightily through the preseason. Tre’Quan Smith has been banged up for most of the summer but the expectation is that he’ll provide the Saints with a solid WR2.
After that, however, the Saints need some help. Deonte Harris is likely facing a suspension to start the season and while Lil’Jordan Humphrey looked good, he’s not starter material.
The Saints can find decent receiver options on waivers, so let’s take a look at a few the team should look to claim or sign.
