Tight ends NOLA Saints should trade for – No. 1: Zach Ertz

The Eagles might be in the NFC but Zach Ertz is the best option for the Saints and linking him to New Orleans isn’t a new idea that’s been floated around. The other two guys on this list might not be as well-known to casual NFL fans but Ertz is someone that most people know.

That’s because Ertz is just a few years removed from being one of the best tight ends in the league. He had 116 receptions for 1,163 yards and eight touchdown receptions during the 2018 season, proving what he can do when he’s at his best.

While that version of Ertz probably isn’t coming to the Big Easy if this trade ended up happening, there’s no doubt that Ertz would make a major impact in this offense. He’d give the Saints their surefire starting tight end for the 2021 season and in turn, the Eagles could officially close the door on the Ertz era while opening the door on the Dallas Goedert era.

With the regular season just a few weeks away, the Eagles might not be seeking as expensive of an offer for Ertz and that would work out well for New Orleans.

The best-case scenario here is that Trautman and Vannett are both healthy and able to contribute to the offense but if not, New Orleans should strongly consider seeing what it’d take to land any of these tight ends.
