The New Orleans Saints got hit hard by the injury bug this week, losing both Adam Trautman and Nick Vannett to injury during the Monday night game against Jacksonville. Trautman was carted off with an ankle injury while Vannett injured his knee and had an MRI on Tuesday to determine the severity, per Ian Rapoport.

Trautman and Vannett might not end up missing time (Trautman’s injury is said to be minor) but if they do, the Saints need to find a fringe starter for the 2021 season. Yes, Juwan Johnson has looked good this summer and clearly has chemistry with Jameis Winston but this is his first year as a tight end after spending time as a wide receiver. There are going to be bumps in the road there.

If the Saints find themselves in a spot where they want to trade for a tight end, here are three that would make sense for them to target. Two teams are in the AFC, which would be the likeliest option if a trade were to happen. I included one NFC team simply because trade rumors surrounding one of their tight ends have been in full force this offseason.

Let’s dive into the tight ends that the Saints could decide to make a trade for.
