4 Saints who saw their stock rise after preseason game vs. Jaguars
Saints whose stock rose – No. 1: Jameis Winston
When the dust settled on the Saints’ second preseason game, there wasn’t a bigger winner on the field than Jameis Winston. Not only did the quarterback wow everyone watching the game on ESPN but he took a pretty big step ahead of Taysom Hill in the quarterback competition.
On the first series of the game, Winston went 4-of-4 for 66 yards, which ended with a touchdown strike to Callaway. It was the perfect start for Winston and a series he desperately needed to put some distance between him and Hill.
Winston ended the night throwing for 122 yards on nine completions (10 attempts) and connected with Callaway on another touchdown later on in the first quarter. The Saints didn’t need to see anything else from Winston, pulling him before the first quarter was even over.
It was a bit frustrating that Taysom Hill had plenty of opportunities to prove himself in this game while Winston has never been on that long of a leash. Hill ended up with more passing yards than Winston but he played in nearly two full quarters while Winston didn’t even get through the first quarter.
Even with Hill having more yards, Winston was the clear winner between the two. He’s No. 1 on this list because he definitely put himself in the driver’s seat for the starting quarterback job.
Who do you think saw their stock rise significantly in this game?
