New Orleans Saints to Watch – No. 2: Tony Jones Jr.

The preseason opener was the Tony Jones Jr. show, as the former Notre Dame product went off the rails for 82 yards rushing and a touchdown while hauling in 35 yards as a pass-catcher. It was a surprising showing from a guy who wasn’t much of a factor as a rookie last year.

Jones was the star of the running backs, outshining Latavius Murray and newcomer Devonta Freeman and definitely putting the pressure on both of those guys. At this point, it wouldn’t be shocking for Jones to find his way onto the roster, especially if he plays well again on Monday.

If Jones puts up yet another dominating performance, it’d be hard for the Saints not to keep him around, especially if they opted to do so over Freeman, who hasn’t been the same guy since his peak years with the Falcons.

Jones is definitely someone to watch because of the clinic he put on a week ago. Can he do it again for Monday’s game?
