Saints that fans hope prove them wrong – No. 2: Marcus Davenport
Similar to Zack Baun, Marcus Davenport has shown up in a big way during training camp and looked good in the preseason opener. We all know Davenport’s story — The Saints traded up to nab him in the 2018 NFL Draft and he’s failed to live up to the expectations of being a first-round pick.
Even with Davenport disappointing to this point of his career, the Saints picked up his fifth-year option and are giving him every opportunity to stick on the roster.

I included Mike Triplett’s tweet from Saturday’s game because it really rings true. Davenport hasn’t had a breakthrough season yet and Saints fans have lost hope that it’ll ever happen.
This could be the year though. He looks good so far and there are more opportunities for him to make a name for himself on the defensive side of the ball this year. Hopefully, Davenport proves New Orleans wrong this year because it’s about freaking time that he does just that.
