New Orleans Saints trending up – No. 2: Juwan Johnson

The Saints have a lot of question marks on offense but the tight end position is certainly one of the biggest. Juwan Johnson made the switch from wide receiver to tight end over the offseason and really flourished in his new role.

Johnson had just two catches in the preseason opener but he made sure both of them counted.

One catch was when Jameis Winston connected with him for a 33-yard strike to get the Saints in the red zone. It was a nice catch by Johnson and showed that he’s getting more comfortable with his new role and what’s being expected of him.

The tweet above from Jeff Nowak was the other catch Johnson had and was the highlight of the game for Johnson, as Ian Book tossed the ball to him and Johnson kept scampering and fighting for more yardage. It was a nice play for Johnson and he’s definitely staking his claim on the roster.

Johnson’s two catches went for a total of 71 yards, which led the team in receiving. He looked good and the Saints have to be feeling more confident in their tight ends with Johnson’s performance on Saturday, even if he’s not the go-to guy come the start of the regular season.
