New Orleans Saints Position Battles to Watch – No. 1: Quarterback

This shouldn’t come as a surprise.

The biggest position battle that not only Saints fans are watching but the entire NFL is watching is the quarterback position. Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill are facing off for who gets to be Drew Brees’ successor and so far, neither guy has looked that great if we’re being entirely honest.

Winston has been the favorite all along and it makes sense as to why, as he’s a former first overall pick and has a tremendous arm. His issue has always been turning the ball over too much, throwing 30 interceptions with the Bucs in 2019. That can’t happen if he wants to be a long-term starter in the NFL and this year is his chance to prove that he can limit the turnovers and be a reliable starter in the league.

Hill has the most to prove on Saturday between the two. If he can put up a decent performance, he has a chance to gain on Winston in the battle and maybe even pass him if Winston struggles.

Without a doubt, the Saints quarterbacks are going to have the most attention on them this weekend. This also includes fourth-round rookie Ian Book and veteran Trevor Siemian, who also are fighting for a roster spot or practice squad spot.
