Cornerbacks for New Orleans Saints to add – No. 3: C.J. Henderson

The Jaguars drafted C.J. Henderson in the first round just one year ago but they’re already looking to ship him elsewhere. The Saints are said to be in the mix of teams interested in trading for Henderson and now with this Robinson retirement news, it’s not the least bit surprising.

Henderson has yet to celebrate his 23rd birthday and he only has played one year of his rookie contract. That would give the Saints up to four years of Henderson on that rookie contract. It’s definitely enticing for them to add a young cornerback who they’d have control over for the next four years.

The problem with adding Henderson is that it won’t come cheap. The price of adding a guy who went ninth overall a year ago is probably going to be a first-round pick and, while it sucks to say, there’s a chance the Saints could be drafting in the top 15 if this season doesn’t go according to plan.

Is it worth surrendering a first-round selection that could go a long way for the Saints moving forward?

That’s what this organization will have to decide when it comes to potentially adding Henderson to their roster. If the Jaguars are serious about trading him, it makes sense that New Orleans is in the mix but it’s going to cost them if they decide to go for it.
