It’s game week for the New Orleans Saints, as they face the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday in their first preseason game of the year. There’s still plenty of time between now and that game taking place and three players had fans talking after Monday’s practice.

The Saints had a much-needed day off on Sunday, so they were well-rested and ready to rock and roll for Monday’s practice. While the quarterback competition is still one worth keeping an eye on, other players have emerged and gotten us buzzing ahead of what’s sure to be an interesting season for the New Orleans Saints.

Let’s check out three members of the Saints who stood out at some point during Monday’s practice.

New Orleans Saints who stood out – No. 3: Tony Jones

Running back isn’t a position that is getting much buzz this offseason. This is mostly because Alvin Kamara is the starter, Latavius Murray is the backup, and Devonta Freeman is making a push at the backup job but will likely be locking down the three-spot.

Someone who hasn’t been discussed much is Tony Jones but he popped in Monday’s practice. Jeff Nowak noted that Jones had an impressive day on Monday, running for two scores during drills.

Jones is going to need to flash in both camp and preseason games because he’s buried on the running back depth chart as of now. With names like Dwayne Washington, Ty Montgomery, and Stevie Scott competing for a fourth-string job on the final roster, Jones has to stand out and he did just that on Monday.
