The New Orleans Saints finished up Day 9 of training camp and have a much-needed day off on Sunday. There were four Saints in particular during Saturday’s practice who really stood out and had Saints fans buzzing.

Let’s dive right into who these guys were and why they impressed us!

New Orleans Saints who popped – No. 4: Malcolm Roach

The Saints have an eye for talent when it comes to undrafted free agents and Malcolm Roach is yet another example of that. New Orleans snatched him up after he went undrafted last year and they’ve reaped the benefits.

Roach, who played his college ball at Texas, appeared in nine games last year and had 16 tackles throughout the course of his rookie season.

The Saints are hoping for Roach to have a bigger role in 2021 and he’s showing in camp that he deserves said role. Saturday’s practice was a nice one for Roach, who stuffed a run and then celebrated his success by dancing off the field. Katherine Terrell noted that “Crowd loves it.”

With so much turnover on the defensive line this offseason, the Saints are relying on their depth to step in this year more than ever. Roach is going to be counted on to be one of those guys and after watching him in training camp, it wouldn’t be the least bit shocking to see him emerge as a key factor on defense in 2021.
