New Orleans Saints whose stock rose

Christian Ringo

In a strange turn of events, Christian Ringo put on a show during Thursday’s practice and it was hard not to talk about him for his efforts. Luke Johnson noted that Ringo had been “making some plays” while getting reps with the first team and this was a good sign.

Not only did Ringo pop with a few plays, but John Hendrix tweeted that the former Cajun added a sack to his practice totals as well.

Ringo isn’t a newcomer to the league, having been a sixth-round pick by the Packers in the 2015 NFL Draft after playing well at Louisiana. He spent the 2016 season on the Packers’ roster then bounced around between the Lions, Bengals, and Cowboys over the next two years.

He’s been with the Saints since last year but spent the 2020 season on the practice squad. He might not make the final roster but he’s definitely making a strong case to do so with how he’s been playing in training camp.

Considering not many people knew who Ringo was, it’s a very easy decision to put him in this category because he had a good day and could be a fringe-roster player at this point.

The Saints have a pretty decent rotation on their defensive line and Ringo is a further example of the depth they have here. The d-line might look different this year but it might not take as much of a hit as people once thought it would.
