New Orleans Saints: 9 takeaways from 4th practice of training camp
New Orleans Saints training camp takeaways
1. Devonta Freeman is hyped to be a part of this team
The star of Day 4 was easily Devonta Freeman, who joined the Saints over the weekend. Payton was vocal about wanting to bring him in due to Montgomery moving to receiver and Freeman discussed how thrilled he was to join the Saints.
Throughout his media session, Freeman mentioned that:
- Playing for the Saints is a “dream come true”
- He’s “gassed up”
- He has a lot of mutual respect for the Saints due to the time he spent with the Falcons
- The Falcons’ Super Bowl was whenever they played the Saints
There was a lot to unpack with Freeman’s media session and he’s elated to be a part of the Saints and this community. He won’t be a starting running back unless something happens to Alvin Kamara (knock on wood) but Freeman offers a veteran running back who is no stranger to having to carry an offense.
It’s awesome to see Freeman so excited to join this team and with all of the work he put in on Monday, it won’t be shocking if he makes a big impact for the Saints in 2021.
These were just a few of the takeaways to be had from Monday’s practice and media sessions but obviously, it wasn’t everything that took place. Freeman highlighted Monday’s practice and that’s to be expected with a new signing, as the team wants to get him acclimated.
With another practice in the books, we’re another day closer to the start of football!
