New Orleans Saints training camp takeaways

6. Marshon Lattimore hasn’t heard about possible suspension

Marshon Lattimore was in the news this offseason and it wasn’t for something good. He’s been going through some legal issues and as a result, a suspension could be coming for the Saints cornerback.

Perhaps this is why the Saints have recently loaded up on cornerbacks, adding Brian Poole, Prince Amukamara, and KeiVarae Russell in the past week. It could also be because the team was already thin at the position.

Lattimore hasn’t heard anything about a suspension to this point. This doesn’t mean one isn’t coming but for now, maybe this is good news that he won’t be missing any time to start the season.

5. Adam Trautman wowed

The Saints have a lot of playmakers who need to step up and help whoever wins the starting quarterback job and one of those guys is Adam Trautman. The Saints spent a third-round pick on Trautman in last year’s draft and after a lackluster rookie campaign, he’s now being propelled into the spotlight due to the tight ends ahead of him last year no longer being on the team.

Fortunately, Trautman is looking good and according to Mike Triplett, he had his most productive day of practice on Monday. Triplett noted that Trautman made a slew of tough catches and this is definitely something that should have Saints fans feeling a little better as to what he could do this year.
