New Orleans Saints who stood out – No. 2: Marquez Callaway
Speaking of UDFAs, here’s another making the cut today. Marquez Callaway went undrafted last year out of Tennessee and had 213 yards during his rookie season in the Big Easy.
The Saints are hoping Callaway makes a big leap in year two because — Well, he kinda has to.

This team doesn’t have a lot of viable options at wide receiver now that Michael Thomas is slated to miss an extended period of time. In a perfect world, Callaway goes from UDFA to star receiver in 2021 and training camp is making fans see that he’s capable of doing just that.
I know it’s just Year 2 but Marquez Callaway already sounds like a leader. I could see him having a big year.

I included the tweet from Katherine Terrell of The Athletic because it really is a testament to the expectations we have from Callaway. He’s only entering the second year of his NFL career and yet here he is, looking like a leader and on the verge of what could be a breakout season. That’s why he’s on my list of standout players.
Not many UDFAs have a story like that but Callaway could be a truly special player for the Saints.
