New Orleans Saints who stood out – No. 3: Carl Granderson

The Saints have an eye for talent when it comes to undrafted free agents and Carl Granderson is a prime example of that. Granderson went undrafted out of Wyoming in 2019 and appeared in eight games notching one sack as a rookie.

It was a promising rookie campaign and as a result, the Saints leaned more on Granderson in 2020 and the Wyoming product didn’t disappoint. He finished his sophomore season with five sacks through 15 games, which was exactly what the Saints were hoping for.

Granderson has a chance to up his stock on the depth chart and is making a big impression on people in training camp. He had two sacks on Friday, taking down Jameis Winston and Trevor Siemian, as John Hendrix notes in the tweet below.

Granderson might not be a starter but the Saints need depth on defense and Granderson is terrific depth to have. He’s getting after the quarterback in training camp and hopefully, that carries over into the regular season.

The Saints knew they had something special with Carl Granderson and it’s wild that this guy went undrafted. New Orleans is certainly happy that he did.
