New Orleans Saints who stood out – No. 4: Marcus Williams

Marcus Williams is entering an important season. The Saints haven’t extended him yet and there haven’t been any talks recently of doing so, which seems silly, but this isn’t a team that’s loaded with the funds to extend players. They got Ryan Ramczyk taken care of and that was priority number one.

Williams has a lot to prove to his team but mostly to himself this year. An impressive season would go a long way for Williams’ future, as a team will pay a hefty price for a safety to Williams’ caliber. A major contract is riding on his success this year.

The reason I’m including Williams on my list of standout players is for a “hit” he had on Alvin Kamara in practice that had the crowd reacting in a big way.

Williams needs to pop more when it comes to bringing playmakers down and this, as Jeff Nowak noted in the tweets above, is a good sign for the Saints safety. Let’s hope he keeps this swagger during the regular season.
