New Orleans Saints need to reach out to Cincinnati Bengals

One of the most surprising teams to have a stacked wide receiver room is the Bengals, who won just four games last year. They surprisingly took Ja’Marr Chase with the fifth overall pick in the draft despite having a strong need on their offensive line but now their receiver room is one of the best in the league.

This is the group the Bengals are looking at to start the season:

  • Ja’Marr Chase
  • Tyler Boyd
  • Tee Higgins
  • Auden Tate

The first three listed could be a WR1 anywhere they go and Tate is a solid WR2/3 option. If the Saints were to call the Bengals about a trade, Chase and Higgins wouldn’t be on the table because Chase is a rookie and Higgins is entering year two. Boyd, however, is under contract through 2023 and might thrive more in New Orleans where he’s the prominent target.

Tate is someone the Saints could inquiry about too, as in 2019, he had 575 yards and a touchdown through 12 games (10 starts). He wouldn’t be the replacement for Thomas but he’d be a nice complement for Smith and Callaway.

The Saints would be wise to reach out to the Bengals and see if they’d consider trading any of their receivers.
