This isn’t the Wild West. It’s the Scrutinizing South, and these New Orleans Saints players are on their final handout going into the 2021 season.

There are those who have already earned the trust of Sean Payton and their teammates, and they will be watching this saloon showdown from the upper decks. Michael Thomas, Alvin Kamara, Cam Jordan, and Ryan Ramczyk, among others, will be seated at booths, cowboy boots stretched out on the table, tipping their hats and sipping moonshine as they look pitifully down at the Saints who have squandered all their chances.

Some of these unfortunate souls are longtime veterans of the league who never quite found their footing in New Orleans. Others are homegrown athletes who, despite their good intentions, let the team down one too many times.

This town ain’t big enough for all of you, Sheriff Payton will say, spitting out a wad of tobacco. Step back. Draw your guns. Your Saints careers are on the line.

This upcoming season could be the last chance for these players to prove they belong in New Orleans, or else become outlaws roaming the league’s free agency.

Here are 3 Saints players who have one final shot to stay on the team.
