NFC South Quarterback Rankings – No. 2: Matt Ryan (Atlanta Falcons)

While it’s easy to hate on the Falcons (cough 28-3 cough), hating on Matt Ryan isn’t as easy. He’s a likable guy and he’s proven himself as a top quarterback in the league on more than one occasion.

Ryan isn’t the MVP-caliber quarterback that he was when he led the Falcons to the Super Bowl in the 2016 season, but he’s still getting the job done in Atlanta. This past year, the offense wasn’t the problem for the Falcons and Ryan proved he still had what it took and that the team should continue to roll with him at the quarterback spot.

Ryan threw for 4,581 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 picks last year. Those numbers aren’t bad in the slightest but Ryan definitely had his fair share of rough games, including a three-interception game against the Chargers late in the season.

Even though Ryan isn’t the same player he once was, his numbers are still pretty dang good. He’s had to make up for the atrocious Falcons defense and he’s done the best he can do in a bad situation.

If this is the last year for Ryan in Atlanta, Saints fans will be happy to see him out of the division. He’s still starting quarterback-worthy and the numbers prove just that. He had to be the No. 2 quarterback on this list.
