Saints bandwagons to hop on – No. 3: Carl Granderson

After going undrafted out of Wyoming in 2019, Carl Granderson signed with the Saints and made a big impression on the organization. He had a nice career at Wyoming, totaling 16.5 sacks through four seasons with 8.5 of those sacks coming as a junior in 2017.

The Saints liked what they saw from Granderson as a rookie in 2019, as the Wyoming defensive end appeared in eight games and notched his first-ever NFL sack. In 2020, Granderson exploded for the Saints, racking up nine quarterback hits and five sacks through 15 games.

In year three, Granderson might not leap into a starting role but it’s not unfathomable for him to build on his numbers from 2020. He’s someone the Saints know when they plug him into the lineup, he’ll make his presence felt.

With guys like Payton Turner and Tanoh Kpassagnon competing for snaps as backup defensive ends, Granderson has to continue to elevate his game and there’s no reason to think he can’t improve even more this year.

Hop on the Carl Granderson bandwagon while there’s still time, Saints fans!
