New Orleans Saints Position Battles to Watch – No. 3: Wide Receiver

Similar to the linebacker position, the main wide receiver position is a given. Michael Thomas is going to be the WR1 and for good reason, as he’s the only reliable option on the roster.

Training camp is going to give us a battle for who wins the WR2 job and honestly, it’s anyone’s job to take. I went through three of the most likely candidates to win that job earlier this offseason and more than likely, it’ll come down to one of those guys.

Tre’Quan Smith is the favorite due to being the most experienced option but it’s not a given that he wins it. Marquez Callaway is someone who has really impressed during his short time with the Saints and for a UDFA, that’s a big accomplishment. Kawaan Baker, the seventh-round rookie, is in the mix but is going to have to put together a huge camp and preseason in order to win that job.

Unless the Saints are able to land a sure thing to be their WR2, this is most definitely going to be a position battle to watch and it should be a good one.
