New Orleans Saints that need to step up – No. 3: Chauncey Gardner-Johnson

Chauncey Gardner-Johnson is one of the unique players in the NFL and his on-field swagger and trash talk either make you love or hate him. From his hair to his name changes, this is no ordinary NFL player.

Gardner-Johnson is a player that needs to step up for the Saints’ defense, as he’s had an excellent rookie and sophomore season. With 52 solo tackles, 13 pass deflections, and an interception fans saw him producing all over the field.

With the departure of Janoris Jenkins and the Saints’ lackluster cornerback room, Gardner-Johnson will have an increased role this season. This role will include increased responsibilities as he will likely become the CB2 for the team. It is extremely important that he plays well in this role because of the already thin cornerback room.

If Gardner-Johnson cannot adapt to his new role, the Saints defense could fall apart. If the team wants to win games, they will need CGJ to play well. If fans see Gardner-Johnson play well enough, there is a chance fans could see two Pro Bowl corners for the Saints.

This increase in defensive play is sure to help the team win ball games.
