Saints need Demario Davis to stay healthy

As the Saints enter the 2021 season, their linebacker position could be better. The only reason fans have much confidence in them at all is that Demario Davis is returning and has been one of the best players on the defensive side of the ball.

Last year, Davis totaled 119 tackles, 12 quarterback hits, and four sacks through the regular season. The best part about Davis is obviously the production he brings when he’s on the field but also the fact that he’s as durable as they come. He’s played in all 16 regular season games in every season of his career, which is highly impressive.

The Saints haven’t been put in a position where they’ve been without Davis and they need that to continue in 2021. Along with him at linebacker, the Saints have rookie Pete Werner and second-year man Zack Baun, who is entering an important year.

Behind those guys, New Orleans is banking on Kaden Elliss and Andrew Dowell. Losing Davis to injury would be brutal but considering how lucky he’s been when it comes to staying healthy, hopefully we don’t have to worry about this happening.
