Free Agents Who Could Start for New Orleans Saints – No. 1: Richard Sherman

Saints fans might be tired of hearing about Richard Sherman because these rumors have dated back to earlier in the offseason. Here we are in mid-June and Sherman still has yet to sign anywhere. He recently went on the record saying he wants to play for a Super Bowl contender and whether or not he believes the Saints fall into that category, we don’t know.

The Saints could certainly use Sherman’s talents as they’re in need of a veteran cornerback to help out in their secondary. Marshon Lattimore is entering the final year of his rookie contract and the Saints will also be relying heavily on Stanford rookie Paulson Adebo.

Sherman played in just five games last year due to injury and the 49ers parted ways with him to save money. The season before that, Sherman was one of the leaders on the stout Niners defense that made it all the way to the Super Bowl, only to fall short to Kansas City.

Sherman might be 33 years old, but he’s still one of the best in the NFL at his position and the Saints could really use him in their secondary.
